Hoxton Capital introduces citizenship by investment to our list of services
We are always looking for solutions that enhance the service we provide, and citizenship by investment is something that many people may already be aware of. Thanks to feedback from the people we work with, this was something we identified as beneficial to many of our clients and other people we speak with. As such, we are launching our own in-house citizenship service to cater for this demand and to ensure that any clients who are looking for this service can find it from us as a company they know and trust.
What is citizenship by investment?
Citizenship by investment is the process of obtaining a second citizenship and passport by investing in the economy of the host country. Citizenship by investment programs legally confer citizenship status faster than traditional immigration processes and do so without requiring investors to put their lives on hold.
What are the benefits?
The benefits of these programs will be different for different people, depending on the passport they currently hold. In our case as a company predominantly working with Brits abroad, we are mostly concerned with the tax perspectives and how these programs can be used to mitigate tax liabilities. They also offer potential solutions to people who have geographical retirement goals that they may not be able to achieve due to their current passport or their partners current passport. This may be more relevant for Brits in a post Brexit environment, where many people who had retirement plans that involved living in the EU may now face a tougher process in order to achieve that.
For the majority of people who use these citizenship programs the benefits that they are looking for are the additional travel freedoms that they can acquire or even just the simplification of the process they are required to go through in order to get travel permissions. In a lot of cases the aim may also be for their children to be able to study abroad more easily or as a resident in that country, meaning they don’t have to pay international student fees or compete for the international student spaces at universities.
